Forgiveness
April 28, 2009

I have to apologize for not beginning to name my weeks last week..but better late than never.  To begin this week, I will name it forgiveness.  I heard Jody Osteen (the mother of Joel Osteen) talk about how the Lord healed her body from cancer.  One of the factors that contributed to her healing was forgivness.  She wrote letters to all of her children and her husband asking them to forgive her because she had been quite irritable and possibly offensive during some of her illness.  Sometimes unforgiveness can cause a bitter root to fester in the heart and can hinder the healing process.  This week (whether sick or not) let's think of anyone that we need to forgive and forgive them (release them) ask anyone that we have offended to forgive us.  Jesus said that our forgiveness is based upon how we forgive others.  What a concept.

I think that forgiveness is the hardest thing I have to deal with. I have a little prayer that I always go back to when I need to forgive. I would like to share it with.

Lord Jesus, help me to walk with you all through today. Give me today something of your patience with people: something of your ability to bear slights and insults and injuries without bitterness and without resentment: something of your ability always to forgive.

Thank you for your wonderful post and name for this week.

God bless,

Rieke

If we do not forgive one another our Lord will not forgive us.  Forgiveness is the beginning of the healing process.  All things that are good, blessed, and of God starts the moment we have a repentant heart and a forgiving heart.  Our Savior on the cross said...Forgive them for they know not what they do.  He wanted us to live in Victory and until you forgive you cannot live victorious for our Lord and Savior!!    God Bless you always is my prayer.

Ouch, Peola! You would start out your naming of the weeks with my biggest challenge: forgiveness! What's next?

I have been having a very hard time forgiving my niece who has given my sister and her husband nothing but grief her entire 23 years of life. She has had three children already and has made only terrible choices in her life. I have been struggling with forgiving her for what she has dragged my sister through. Matter of fact, my sister and husband have adopted two of the little boys - 2 and 4 - a tough row to hoe when you are 57 and 59. The little girl is being adopted by someone else. I've been angry and bitter.

Peola, just reading your words and writing this has opened a little crack in the door I've slammed shut so long.

May my faith strengthen so that I can open the door wide to let in my niece. That's the least I can do for the Lord who has always welcomed me with open arms, no matter what.

In Him,

rowansmom
