About Me
Bio:
Born in Alabama, I came to Tennessee in the 90s with a job. In 2002 had a stroke and a year later a triple bypass.
Journey: Father was a Baptist deacon and lay minister. I was lucky to have been brought up in the church. I attended a Christian college. Through much illness and suffering, God has graciously brought me to my community and to the church I now attend -- a wonderful church home and church family! God Bless
Interests & Activities: I love movies and reading. and dote on my two cats; Rosemary and Herb. Ive posted a picture of them in my prayer space under photos. I live a quiet life, but one that is very satisfying. I am a lay speaker in my United Methodist church and in addition coordinate our churchs prayer ministry
Denomination: United Methodist
Goals and Dreams: To live each day as richly and authentically as possible. To touch others lives with love and prayer.
Inspirations and Role Models: At the moment, Mother Teresa and Dag Hammarskjold. The best inspiration and Role model is, of course, Jesus.
Proudest Moment: Giving my first sermon as a lay speaker. Although in a United Methodist church, I felt my Baptist Dad would have been proud of me. I wish he would have lived so long.
Biggest Challenge: My health (Stroke, Heart Disease, partial blindness, severe hearing loss). Also my lack of patience at times.
My Favorites
Bible Verses: 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Books: At the moment, Im reading (or re-reading, as the case may be): Markings, Come Be My Light, Celebration of Discipline and Mere Christianity.
Music: Classical and Jazz
Bible Teachers: My Dad
Quotes: "The Straight Road -- to live for others in order to save ones soul. The Broad Road - to live for others in order to save ones self-esteem" - Dag Hammarskjold in MARKINGS
