  Highlights of EVELYN BENCE’s year? “A January evening at home in Arlington, Virginia, hosting a Bleak Midwinter party. An April morning on a North Carolina beach, watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. A June afternoon, sitting behind home plate at a Washington Nationals baseball game. A July weekend in western New York, gathering with brothers and sisters around a campfire, roasting hot dogs and popcorn. Two Sunday afternoons, strolling through art museums, springtime in New York, autumn in Washington. Frequent after-church conversations, summarizing God’s recent blessings. All these memories—and more—tie me to the people who inspire me, stretch me, draw out the best in me as I live out my faith, whether I’m traveling or close to home.” Evelyn continues her work as a book editor and recently became a writing tutor for graduate students at a nearby seminary.
